Mira McDonald

Culinary Team

Mira McDonald has an educational background in both biology and electric construction, but her real passion lies in exploring the strength of organized collective power structures. Not only does she have a background working at Minneapolis’s Seward Cafè as an owner/operator, she also lives in a housing co-op where the goal is to provide collective affordable housing for people living there. As a member of the culinary team at the Indigenous Food Lab, she works hard in the kitchen doing prep work, cleaning work, and pretty much anything that needs to get done in order to keep things running smoothly.

In her spare time, she likes to spend time with her pet bearded dragon Jim, as well as pursuing her interests of fermented foods and mycology. She enjoys spending her time in the warmer months hiking, biking, and playing softball.
